Science

At Wallop Primary School, the Science curriculum intends to capture, develop and extend children’s natural excitement and curiosity about the wonderful world around them.

Children will learn what it is to ‘be a scientist’, developing scientific skills and knowledge, laying the foundations for making sense of the world today and in the future. Children are encouraged to raise their own questions for scientific enquiry, investigating practically,  making meaningful links and drawing conclusions.

We firmly believe that first-hand experience is at the heart of scientific learning and, therefore, practical activities are used at every opportunity, with children developing the skills of ‘working scientifically’.

Across the school, our curriculum is integrated wherever relevant; children are expected to apply mathematical knowledge to their understanding of Science, particularly when collecting, presenting and analysing data.  They are also expected to use English skills alongside scientific vocabulary, articulating ideas and concepts clearly.
