Computing
Using technology has become an integral part of our everyday lives, and many of us depend on computers and associated technology not only in our working day but also in our leisure time. Computing and Information technology at Wallop helps to provide all children with a firm foundation of skills and logical thinking. After all; in this ever changing world, many children will go on to work in jobs and roles that are yet to exist!
It is vital we prepare children to not only use technology but reflect about how it works, and how it is used. Our aim is to balance children’s experience of different technology and systems, e-safety, and skills and knowledge that will further them in later life.
We aspire to an outcome where every pupil has the opportunity to explore the creative side of computing through activities such as writing computer programs using pupil-friendly programming environments. We aim to demonstrate to children that it is ok to make mistakes. In computing the correct outcome will not happen first time and all programmers make mistakes, this is a normal part of the process. As children begin to solve and debug their own errors it promotes independence and shapes learners who are developing positive coping strategies that will be applied and built upon throughout their lives.
