  • ARMED FORCES DAY

    Fri 28 Jun 2019
On Friday 28 June we held our Armed Force Day celebrations. Parents came in and joined us on the field for a picnic and then were very lucky to have a visit from an apache. The pilots flew over the school twice waving at the children and then came round for a third time and landed on the field. All of the children got to have a look around the helicopter and had their photos taken. Once the apache lifted off and went back to base we had a fun afternoon of activities which included an orienteering maze, camo face painting, hide and seek in the woods, water games, skittles, skipping and much more. The school PTA had a Father’s Day craft stall where children made keyrings, they also kept us all hydrated by serving refreshments

Morning- a lovely day yesterday and really busy. Owing to the giant swing not working properly we had an extra session packed in. So the morning consisted of orienteering followed by high ropes Jacob’s ladder. We had a session on Giant Swing then after lunch we were supposed to be canoeing on the Solent. However, due to the adverse winds and waves PGL deemed it not safe enough so we did a session of archery and quad biking which the children enjoyed. It would have been nice to go on the sea as it was hot but we had a great time anyway.
The evening saw the fantastic disco, pumping beats and the activity zone full of children. They all slept well last night.
Today, we have packed up our bags and rooms and are now doing high ropes challenges this morning- the best or worst day dependent on your view of heights!
The children have had a wonderful week, PGL staff have been fantastic and we have made many memories to cherish.
See you all at home later.
    Thank you, Mr Lambert

    PGL RESIDENTIAL 2019

    Thursday 27th June

    Good morning,
What a fabulous day the children had yesterday. We started off the day with the children somewhat struggling to get out of bed in the morning- especially as we have 7:10am breakfast! Anyway, we struggled to breakfast all bleary eyed and then started the day. Room inspection saw the boys triumph again for the second day- there are no excuses for when they get home Mum and Dad!
Activities then started and they began with the Matrix (or Quad bike cleaning) and the children loved it. Moving onto climbing, then giant swing after lunch. Giant swing was interesting as the swing misfired twice leaving two of the children stranded and having to be brought down manually- all had one go, but will have a second tomorrow lunch time. We have some wonderful pictures of the children’s faces as they ‘dropped’!
The last activity of the day before dinner was sensory trail- they got very muddy and wet as they followed the rope through a course blindfolded- apologies parents for the muddy clothing.
In the evening they played team games to win points for materials to build a safe ‘box’ to launch a water balloon without breaking- one team actually succeeded- they were very pleased with themselves.
The children are having a brilliant time and it was lovely to see them really bonding, with the girls making up the boys into an impromptu fashion show. Some of the pictures are very interesting!
They all went to bed tired but happy and I have a feeling getting them up tomorrow morning will be tougher than today. More updates later on!

    PGL RESIDENTIAL 2019

    Wednesday 26th June AM

So yesterday started off very wet but did brighten up during the day. All children had a great time on the challenge trail and tunnel trial, particularly liking the tunnel trail as it was dark, muddy and wet!

In the afternoon the children did problem solving and then tried dragon boating. The evening saw a huge game of cluedo - detecting that it was the lobster that committed the crime.

Today is jam packed with activities and the children are all very excited!!

    More to follow later.

As day dawns I have to say they were all incredible last night. All asleep really early and no one woke during the night! It rained all night and this morning but seems to be clearing. They all enjoyed a hearty breakfast of bacon, mushrooms, beans, cereals, toast and fruit and are all in great spirits.

Today's activities are: challenge course, tunnels, problem solving and dragon boats.

    More to follow.
